Jul 6, 2022 2 min read Help shape the evolution of SSNAP The Salt Spring National Art Prize, founded in 2015, has emerged rapidly to be one of the preeminent visual art competitions in Canada. SSNAP has grown in engagement and reach, recognizing and nurturing artistic creativity and originality in Canadian visual arts. Its anchor program is a biennial juried open competition focused on Canadian contemporary visual arts. Prizes total over $40000. In July 2020, the governance and operations of SSNAP were assumed by a new Not-for-Profit Society – the Salt Spring National Art Prize Society, granted charitable status in 2021. We are now seeking up to four new members to join the Board over the next two years, as well as new members for the SSNAP Steering Committee. The Board sets the strategic direction for SSNAP; promotes financial sustainability; and provides stewardship for the delivery of our mandate. The Steering Committee guides the programs. To help reflect our national, regional and local communities of interest – including artists, collectors, curators, and the general public – we are seeking a diversity of perspectives and skills in new members of the Board and Steering Committee to contribute to forging and delivering our strategic focus and activities. Our ongoing commitment to Indigenous artists, emerging artists and youth would be reinforced by new members who bring perspectives from these communities. While the majority of our members will continue to be based on Salt Spring Island, we welcome overtures from persons in the rest of BC, or indeed Canada. You can learn more about SSNAP on our website (currently being redesigned) or in conversation with one of our Board or team members. Please reach out via our contact form to schedule a discussion.
