Dimension

58" x 15" x 18"

Médium

Modified PVC

“Hooked” is a soft sculpture made from prematurely discarded PVC material. The found substance has been modified to suit the process of crochet, wherein a series of slipknots has been repeated in a spontaneous sequence to generate a novel form. A specifically fabricated metal stand suspends the weight of the sculpture.

“I was born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario. I have recently graduated from the University of Guelph’s Studio Art program with a minor in psychology. Currently I am studying art therapy at a college in Toronto. I spend much of my spare time outdoors, either snowboarding or collecting vegetables, depending on the season. In my sculptural practice I alter found objects in an attempt to expose the latent potential of discarded items. I strive to achieve a modified formal arrangement by using an intuitive response to the physical properties of the substance at hand. I also work on flat surfaces such as paper and walls with cosmetics, drawing materials, and tape.”
