There are some trees setting in a jewel of green that so beg to be put into paint. Lovely paint that holds so many variations on light ,contrast, and colour. I live for the delight of playing these notes upon canvas. I push the the rock forms into the sea. And the sky and clouds all part of a whole. The arbutus are lit up by white scented blossom. Two eagles sit together. Hornby Island May 2023

Imagine a world of sandstone shapes undulating gently to a blue sea.
Masses of bleached white driftwood.
Fir trees whispering against the starry night.
Tall grasses rustling against a sunset background.
On a faraway island of potters, painters and weavers I was nurtured to be creative.
I have travelled from this world of Hornby Island…
studying at The Banff Centre of the Arts for six weeks of painting—Summer 1978.
Attended Emily Carr College for four years. Graduated with Diploma of Fine Arts 1983.
Influential field trip to New York ten days 1981...seeing paint on canvas from the Impressionists to Picasso.
Lived on the West Coast most of 1990’s painting.
I have travelled and painted en plein air for forty years.
I love painting with oils.
Never find the alchemy of colour bores me.
It is a portal into memories and illusion.
