I believe the intention of the work is the creation of a gentle balance between composition, craft, atmosphere, and subject. Composition I believe to be the most important element to engage and encourage the viewer. Craft, I feel, is essential in the working of materials to help the viewer transcend the picture plane. Atmosphere, which I prefer over subject, is probably for me the least important element, but necessary as a gateway to narrative. This painting is part of a current series depicting people alone in various states of self-reflection or boredom.
