Sculpture with driftwood base

In Norse lore, Loki was a shapeshifter. Dolly was the first cloned sheep This piece represents what I had envisioned as we all have some degree of shape shifting and cloaking to “fit in”. Politicians are shapeshifters, hiding who they really are. Social media shapeshifters project health and happiness, but are they? Loki is intended to have the observer ponder humanity. Created with Garry Oak driftwood, 90 feet of unusable Ethernet cable completely deconstructed and discarded sheepskin slippers. Loki will live approximately 300 years, until his polypropylene and copper ‘wool’ disintegrates.

My pieces tend to be a wee bit off-kilter, whimsical, and they are all created with found materials. I take great pleasure in utilizing material that would normally be discarded. I am predominantly self-taught, hence utilizing some unorthodox methods. A considerable amount of time is involved beginning with my imagination and concluding with the finished piece.

Being skilled in watercolours, pottery (including mixing my own glazes), dimensional machine embroidery, welding, and being comfortable with power tools have helped me create pieces that all begin with a piece of driftwood. My mantra is to have fun! People enjoying my pieces gives me immense pleasure.
