Jael has suffered a moderate amount of beard envy her whole life. She’s a good friend, so I do what I can to help. As a portrait painter, I’m in an excellent position to offer aesthetic upgrades to those in need.

About the artist

Jan Little learned to create life in Emily Carr University's film animation department, and has carried those tools into her current painting practice. Whether the piece is playful or studious, the focus of her art practice now is learning to be honest, to create something that truly describes her experience of/with the subject, to challenge herself to capture those aspects which are actually meaningful to her, not to settle. A reflection of the world as she sees it, her work is often humorous, sometimes poignant, and almost always concerned with character.

Jan has been painting in the South Okanagan for nearly 20 years. Her studio work tends to showcase the life around her on the small farm, encounters with friends, and interesting characters in the wild and in the news. As well as personal work, she does several portrait commissions each year. She has recently opened Little Long Studios + Gallery in Penticton, BC.
