Street photography is a large part of my art practice. My photos are an exploration of our urban environment and our relation to it. They balance a fine line of figurative and abstract ways of viewing our surroundings, drawing our attention to what we all see but mostly ignore. Areas impacted by a constant state of change are a focus for me. I’m intuitively drawn to these particular types of subjects and take more of a painterly approach when photographing them. I’m using texture, pattern, and composition to serve as the dominant visual characteristics of these images.

I’m a visual artist based in Sherwood Park, AB. My work explores our interaction with everyday forms of visual communication and how people relate to their urban environment. I’ve been a practicing artist for over 40 years, working in a variety of techniques, including photography, printmaking, mixed media, collage using recycled materials, aluminum-based work, and sculpture. Since completing my studies at the Alberta College of Art, I’ve exhibited in solo and group shows, both nationally and internationally. Most recently I’ve shown in The Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art at Walter Phillips Gallery in Banff and The Fence, an international touring public photography exhibit. My work has been published most recently in Manifest Gallery’s 6th and 7th International Photography Annuals (INPHA 6 and INPHA 7) and locally in the Edmonton Artists Colouring Book. I also have work in several private and public collections, including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Strathcona County, and The Art Gallery of Alberta.
