I painted this piece in response to an unpublished poem by Alexis Rhone Fancher as part of a collaboration that will be published in Summer 2023. The work is not interpretive, but rather imaginative, created to explore the idea of alternative intimate relationships. It is one of many works in a series that I will continue to paint over this year and next. I am interested in how society chooses to deny or ignore the variety of sexual expressions possible amongst individuals regardless of the discouragement they encounter.
