As a landscape painter I strive to share the experience of common place vistas that we might overlook or take for granted. My observations involve long and careful studies of an image. I paint winter images paying attention to depth and especially the with long rays of sunlight on frosted bushes.

About the artist

Garry Kaye
Salt Spring Island, BC

Garry Kaye, the seventh of ten children, was born and raised on Salt Spring Island. His love of nature was established very early in life and his paintings expressed those feelings. Garry attended the Vancouver School of Art, studying under Roy Kiyooka, Takao Tanabe, and Leonard Epp. He graduated in 1964, majoring in sculpture.

After four months in Europe, and several years living in Vancouver, Garry returned to Salt Spring Island where he lived and worked. In the late 1990’s, he began painting landscapes in acrylics. Since then, his work has been widely collected, and he is represented by Steffich Fine Art Gallery.
