This painting grew out of a series of blind contour landscape drawings that I did in 2018 during an excursion to Parc National du Bic in eastern Quebec. Although initially intended to be an abstract landscape, it evolved into an investigation of boundaries and separation, a theme that frequently appears in my work. In this painting, I’ve also played around with different textures in the background and foreground to emphasis the sense of space. My goal is to challenge the viewer to investigate beyond the surface, to question the reality and the relationships that are being presented.
