Drift Drifting is somehow a kind of still life, three-dimensional and fragmented. The work proposes a questioning of human and artistic drift, a topic that I have explored since 2014. It can suggest a loss of control, a deviation, or simply express a will to be carried where movement will lead.

About the artist

Anne-Marie Giroux
Montreal, QC

Born in Ormstown, Quebec, Anne-Marie Giroux earned her BFA from Concordia University in Montreal. She worked primarily in the intersection of contemporary dance, sculpture-performance, film and art video before focusing her practice on the visual arts. The artist creates conceptual projects through painting, sculpture and installation. Favouring poetic expression, she explores the relationship between body, material, object, being or state of being and movement-what she calls “body-matter”. Since 2014, she has been working around the theme of “human and artistic drift” that will be revealed over time as a triptych with the Drift series (2014-2018), the Drifting series (2017-2018) and the Drifts installation (2019). She has exhibited in the United States and in Canada. Her work is part of private and public collections, notably at MONA, the Museum of New Art in Detroit.
