Fired ceramic wall relief

These ceramic works are figurative/narrative/architectural terracotta, paper clay, and white clay wall bas-reliefs. I am influenced by themes of connection, psychic compression, social isolation, my previous travels, and my own personal history. I am curious about the human, positioned in and influenced by architectural space. Of particular interest are windows, openings, balconies, steps, as well as the aging of materials and surfaces over time.

Drawing, texture making, coloured engobes, ceramic stains, metal powders, industrial porcelain circuitry substrates, refractory elements, and ceramic decals are combined with wet clays and transformed through the firing—completing the synthesis of form and surface.
