“Arachne’s Sonifier” is an instrument which plays real spiderwebs. Through working with the material doomed to mythology’s Arachne and her progeny, I’m attempting to address feelings of reverence for the environment, the beauty of the ephemeral and loss, while creating new methods of engagement with one of our companion species.

Whether culminating into actions or objects, my work responds to conditions of limbo within existence. With a focus on death, time and ephemerality, my research often leads me towards momentary and organic material. My aim is to propose new systems and methods for engagement, most recently this has taken form through building digital interfaces, tools and instruments used to explore, amplify and reflect the barely visible or audible, as well as to express the resonance and relationship between people, plants, and organic matter.

Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, I'm currently living in Tilburg, the Netherlands. Having just received my Master of Fine Art from AKV St Joost in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. I have participated in residencies across Canada and Europe, have given lectures in France, the United Kingdom, Columbia and Canada and was most recently selected by V2_for their Graduation Edition.
