Mixed media collage on paper
My interdisciplinary work addresses themes of place, memory, the quotidian, time and migration. I believe that the transience of my current subject matter is best reflected in the medium of collage. For, while our everyday rituals are as ubiquitous and consistent as the production and consumption of mass media (printed or digital), they are also precious or fleeting and perhaps, in many ways, miraculous. Here my photo-based collage, made of hundreds of cut paper fragments depicts a moment within the Venice Biennale. Bridging context and conversation, visitors flock here to experience a world within a world, within a world.
