SSNAP 2021 finalist Anna Belleforte’s ongoing series ‘Unprecedented’.

Made using her technique of acrylic-tinting maps on canvas, the series depicts unreal scenarios and unlikely architectural feats.
They are escapist landscapes featuring dwellings that highlight the extremes we embody, from islands of perfect isolation (but with all mod-cons) to the blissful ignorance of the consequences of wanting more. They explore desirable yet improbable habitats and are built up with maps, to lend an air of credibility or documentative reality to what you see. These works are fictional fun, but also metaphors for contemporary life.
