Having spent the majority of my life in this rural landscape, I have always felt a strong connection to my surroundings, particularly the woods and fields. Through my painting it has been my intention to show the subtle beauties of our unruly undergrowth, that the viewer may appreciate its serenity before it disappears with the pressures of development.

Garry KayeSalt Spring Island, BC
Garry Kaye, a Canadian visual artist known for his hyper-detailed acrylic landscapes inspired by the natural beauty of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, where he was born and raised. A graduate of the Vancouver School of Art in sculpture, Kaye developed a unique painting process using photography, digital editing, and a self-made grid system to render intricate scenes square by square. His work captures the complexity of wild, untamed nature – moss, tangled brush, and filtered light – with remarkable precision. Kaye continues to live and work on Salt Spring Island, painting from his studio and collaborating with his wife, collage artist Bly Kaye.
