This work documents the evolving, and seemingly never-ending, composition of a painting. While my own body has been removed from the frame, my movements, physical labour, and playful indecision are translated through the sound of shuffling footsteps and sway of the dowel. This work represents my search for provisionality, levity, and malleability within painting, rather than approaching the medium and its history as static and fixed. The historically appropriated imagery becomes layered and obscured in an effort to complicate pictorial space and linear narrative.
