Along the way, you may confront fantastical beasts, cross bridges, join a chorus line, martians…where did they come from? These drawings were created spontaneously at the loom with no pre-planning. They appear much in the same manner as a collection of doodles shows up on your notepad during a long, boring meeting. Your blank page (or my tapestry) becomes a map of images to wander through in a daydream. He later studied at Goldsmith’s College, London, UK where he received his MA Textiles. Gibson’s tapestries are in numerous private and public art collections including the Canada Council Art Bank. He has exhibited his work in regional, national, and international exhibitions including as an invited artist to the Lodz Biennale of Tapestry, Poland.
