“Boost” is of both the narrative and formalist genre. It is an experiment in colour field and compositional arrangements, yet tempered through the liberal use of self-designed and hand-cut paper elements. Through this multi-media approach, I wanted the paintings to oscillate between formalism and serious play. In content, the scene is a curious construct of meaningfulness and childlike approach—a take on the idea of our aloneness in complex surroundings, terrestrial or cosmic. There is no fixed locale in my work; my interest lay in disrupting a particular sense of time and place, towards something more primordial.
