“AI Youth” reacts to the question and perceived threat to traditional art by Artificial Intelligence, and to the current ferment of artistic realities today, asking “is it real?” Although an outwardly traditional oil painting, within resides an algorithmgenerated subject, albeit percolated through human consciousness—one nestled within another. The simple image of a young man swirls with underlying questions and artistic fears, worries of identity and potentially finding one’s craft unknowingly manufactured from wholly synthetic cloth. As an artist, do these vulnerabilities channel society’s sense of artistic self-worth or express something about the human desire for uniqueness?
