Cedar poles, hemp rope, sinew, caribou hair, caribou hide, Hudson Bay blanket, wool, silk, horse hair, glass beads, porcupine quills, feathers, cedar bows, Métis sash, moose hair, embroidery thread,

Between hope and the shimmering presence of a thousand ancestors, a felted heart—soft, warm wool, made stronger by the plunge of sharp needles. My mother-heart hangs outside my body, surrounded by cedar, like ancestral bones. Beaded threads mark the children I have borne. White, the one I lost. Every bead for a day they lived inside me—each one a prayer, a hope, a wish. Each stitch a sacred act. I use traditional materials: caribou and moose hair tufting, porcupine quills, horsehair, moose hide, sinew, feathers, and glass beads. This work honours motherhood, loss, and Métis resilience.
