Two leather vessels hang on a single continuous strap, as if on the shoulder of an invisible bearer. Made of layered vegetable-tanned leather scraps and formed using techniques inspired by ceramics and woodworking, their surfaces shift between flexibility and solidity, matte and gloss. They are inextricably yet impermanently bound, suspended in a tenuous balance. Evoking an artifact from a forgotten place, these pendulous urn-like figures are both familiar and surreal. Each element is recognizable, yet together their purpose becomes dissonant, suggesting remnants of an altered world.

My work focuses on an exploration of the environment around me; the seasonal changes that shift colour, line, and texture of the forest, fields, gardens, and the sea. Working intuitively with colour, line and shapes, working towards a painting that evokes energy, and a feel of landscape. I work in acrylics, gouache, ink, and pastels. I am an honours graduate from VSA (Emily Carr. Inspired by the many outstanding artist teachers during my four years at Vancouver School of Art. Jack Shadbolt, Tac Tanabe, Peter Aspell, and more. Most of my life I have worked as a textile artist. Mostly painting on fabric for clothing, and hangings. Participated in many exhibitions, both in groups, and solo shows. Taught design, and textile painting.
