Soft Talk Quiet Listening

Dimension

36" x 15"

Médium

Industrial felt, gold spandex, fabric

This soft sculpture is wall mounted and styled after a listening device like a tin can phone from childhood with two receptors at either end of a long rope. I design my creations to be worn by and in relation to the body. As a performance artist I am interested in new narratives where artwork is an invitation for the unexpected. This work comes out of my commitment to communication and deep listening both internally with self and externally with others as written about by Indigenous scholar Dylan Robinson in “Hungry Listening”.
