Propylaeon Vasilis VasiliHalifax, NS Dimension 13" x 8" x 8" Médium Marble A propylaea is a monumental gateway in ancient Greek architecture. It is an entrance way to an enclosure, usually a sacred site devoted to temples and associated with the classical Acropolis. I am using and developing the concept of propylaea in an open space as a gateway to life. It is an opening in matter, a notch, to pass over into the uterus that gestures and reveals the light of the infinite universe. Propylaeon Vasilis VasiliHalifax, NS À propos de l'artiste À propos de l'artiste Vasilis VasiliHalifax, NS Vasilis Vasili studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece, under professors E. Panourias and Theodoros Papagiannis from 1992 to 1997. In 1999, having received a scholarship from the Greek Foundation of Scholarships and from the Onassis Foundation, he moved to the United States. In 2001 he received a Masters of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. From 2004 to 2013 Vasilis taught at the Technological Institution of Athens. From 2006 to 2008 he also taught at the Department of Fine Arts at the University of West Macedonia in Florina, Greece. In 2013 he moved to Canada where he lives with his family.
