Fundraiser The Exquisite Corpse Art Show & Auction The Exquisite Corpse Art Show & Auction Live and Online A Salt Spring National Art Prize Fundraiser Online and Upstairs at Gallery 8 Salt Spring Island, Gracepoint Square Thursday, June 17, 1pm – 5pm Open Daily; Friday, June 18 – Thursday, June 24 – 10am – 5pm Join us for this exquisite live and online art show and auction, featuring two exciting elements; The first, “Exquisite Corpse,” was a surrealist art game invented in Paris in 1925, in which a collection of images are collaboratively created. Each artist adds to a composition in sequence, only seeing a portion of the previous artist’s composition. The results are unique and full of visual surprises. The Exquisite Corpse event will feature 36 accomplished Salt Spring Island artists collaborating on 12 artworks. These unique and visually compelling artworks will be up for auction in the gallery and online at www.saltspringartprize.ca from Thursday, June 17 – Thursday, June 24. Visitors may be able to witness some of the artworks being finalized at the gallery exhibition. The second element is a collector alert! Adding to the magic, a fantastic selection of contemporary and historical artwork curated by Anthony Matthews will be on exhibit. Work can be purchased outright while some pieces will be available for sale, auction style, at the exhibition and online. The collection features artists such as Norval Morrisseau, Diana Thorneycroft, Diana Dean, Michael Robb, Hugh Leroy and a dynamic pair of Inuit prints. This is a unique opportunity for viewers to collect some incredibly exquisite artwork. All artworks will be available for viewing and for sale or auction online and in person, upstairs at Gallery 8 and online from June 17 – June 24, 2021. Covid protocols in place at this time will be respected. Join us at this exquisite event!
