When I look closer, I can see that I’m woven together with my life experiences. This sash helped remind me that dark times may be present, but they don’t make up your whole story. This sash was given to me by my mom, the sweetgrass, sage, and shell are from family, and I built the table. We’re always receiving gifts from others. When we can weave these gifts into something that serves us, we’re healing, making life meaningful, and we can give gifts to help others weave their sashes. As a Métis artist, Erin utilizes imagery from the natural world to reflect her deep connection to the land and culture. Her work has been featured in the ‘Lifting the Sky’ exhibition in Seattle. She is currently the Artist in Residence for Studio 2880 in Prince George and won the 2019 Indigenous Business of the Year from the Prince George Chamber of Commerce.
