Eco/logical Spectacle is part of BeWilder, a multimedia series exploring our complex relationship with the wild. This piece—eyeglasses sculpted in silver, created from branches collected near home—plays with vision, value, and the phrase “not seeing the forest for the trees.” What happens when the wild shapes how we see? Can we still navigate with clarity? My work seeks to unmask the layers of civilization that distance us from nature. Engaging, intricate forms invite viewers to question, reflect and reconnect. These pieces aren’t answers—they’re openings. To see truly. And, perhaps, to be seen in return.

Andrea Russell, a multimedia artist whose work in precious metal, leather and found objects is rooted in the timeless landscape of the Gulf Islands. Andrea delights in transforming the viewer into participant, the wearable into ritual. Recent series include Tafoni, inspired by wave-carved sandstone, and The Forest Guardians, protectors of myth and moss. Pieces from BeWilder (2025) explores the fragile tension between chaos and control—our wild and civilized selves. Her practice is deeply informed by reverence for the natural world and a commitment to ecological awareness. She loves teaching silversmithing and mask making from her Galiano home studio. Her artwork is represented by Gallery 8, The Avenue Gallery, and Waterfront Gallery.
