Doppelganger Liza MontgomeryVancouver, BC Size 32" x 48" Medium Oil and Mixed Media on Wood Panel In “Doppelganger,” a loose assemblage of patterned paper, drawing, and painting form a seductive veneer on the wood grain. The artifice inherent in the process of painting resonates in the self-conscious exchange performed by the two figures. Their masks, stiff poses, and directed gaze enact a narrative of ritual self-fashioning, and address the complex nature of image and identity.
