David JamesSaltspring Island, BC
David James, born in Ottawa and raised in Southeast England and Washington, DC, began his artistic journey later in life. Guided by mentors Doug Swinton, Susan Woolgar, and Brent Lynch, he developed a style focused on creating “as much of the sense of a subject as possible with as little as possible.” Nature’s landscapes and moods deeply influence his work, which conveys emotional depth without being explicitly autobiographical. Active in Canada’s arts community, David balances art with business, sailing, gardening, and family life. He aims to exhibit more and continue creating quiet, expressive works that invite reflection and solace.
