My main goal in this creative journey is to explore, discover and follow the lead of the painting as it develops. Sometimes it becomes an abstracted landscape, other times a still life, sometimes just a completely abstract piece. There is no planning ahead and no hidden meanings in my work, just the pure joy of applying paint to canvas. I love bold strokes, high contrast, and strong rich colors. I am inspired by the harmony and rhythm of music, and by the world of nature surrounding us.

Elisabeth JahrenMayne Island, BC
Elisabeth Jahren, born in Norway but spent most of her early years growing up on the B.C. coast in various logging camps. She graduated as a veterinarian in 1986 and has been serving Mayne Island and Galiano Island for the last 30 years. She has always been involved in art and music from an early age but only in the last ten years has she been able to devote serious time and energy to both creative endeavours.
