Modern School of Thought Brenna TomasSault Ste Marie, ON Size 22" x 36" Medium Acrylic on canvas with found imagery collage This piece was created on canvas using acrylic paints as washes to develop this Renaissance- style painting. Objects were then cut from a magazine and collaged into the composition to create an illusion of Raphael’s fresco “The School of Athens,” skewed with modern images. Mixing renaissance techniques with modern artistic applications and images, “Modern School of Thought” revisits old narratives and critiques contemporary representation, consumption, and commodification.
