Alone Again John HoyleSalt Spring Island, BC Size 8" x 5" x 5" Medium Copper pipe, braze weld, applewood I started the piece in late 2018, shortly after the passing of my mum. It’s my first venture into the human form, and I wanted to capture the feeling of loneliness I had at the time. I made a prerequisite that I could only use what materials I had at hand. I was doing a house renovation at the time, hence the copper plumbing pipe and electrical wire, and my work as an orchardist provided the applewood. Alone Again John HoyleSalt Spring Island, BC About the artist About the artist John HoyleSalt Spring Island, BC John Hoyle was born in Yorkshire, England, which is where he started creating things during his lunch breaks working in a welding shop. He moved to Canada in 1995 and Salt Spring Island in 1998, where he obtained an oxygen/propane set-up and started working in brass/copper and braze welding. “Without formal training, my process involves a lot of head-scratching.” The Parallel Art Show is the inaugural showing of John’s work.
