Andrew Moncrief is a visual artist born and raised on Vancouver Island, presently based in Vancouver. Working predominately in painting and drawing, Andrew's work is largely figurative, exploring themes of queer identity, masculinity, and idealism with a focus on portraiture and figuration. Andrew has exhibited internationally in the USA and Europe, most recently at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) in Salt Lake City. He has taken part in group exhibitions across Canada as well as participating in SUMMA International Art Fair in Madrid in September 2015. He has been featured in various print publications in Canada, the US and Europe, most notably, The Advocate, French publication Feros, international design blog CityhomeCOLLECTIVE, Utah Art's Blog 15 Bytes, and is part of the private collection of Nick Cave, Chicago Illinois. Andrew is a recipient of a Professional Development Grant from the Canada Council For The Arts, and has recently relocated to the west coast to pursue a mentorship with Vancouver based artist Justin Ogilvie.
