Lou Lynn attributes her interest in glass as a sculptural medium to frequent periods of study at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School. Inspiration for Lynn’s work has been drawn from archaeological artifacts, old implements, objects, and tools. She combines the fragility, strength and optical properties of glass with bronze, to create contemporary forms that involve a juxtaposition of contrasting materials and express the tension that exists between strength and fragility. Lynn’s sculptures are in numerous public collections including Canadian Museum of Civilization, Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Berlin Embassy Collection, Glasmuseum, Ebeltoft, Denmark, Kamloops Art Gallery, Xerox of Canada Collection and the Corning Museum of Glass, NY. Lynn has been the recipient of grants from the BC Arts Council, Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance, Vancouver Foundation, and the Canada Council. In 2010 she was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA).
